What you need for KYC verification

Every Royal BB account goes through identity verification before it is activated. Here is what that involves and why it matters.

Why verification is required

Know Your Customer checks are a legal requirement for financial institutions in South Africa. They protect customers from identity theft and prevent accounts being used for fraud or money laundering. They also protect you directly: a verified account is far harder for someone else to take over.

What to prepare

You will be asked to upload two documents. First, a valid form of identification, such as a South African ID or a passport. Second, a proof of address, such as a recent utility bill or bank statement.

Getting your documents accepted first time

Make sure the whole document is visible in the photo, with no corners cut off. Check that the image is in focus and that text is readable. Use good lighting and avoid glare from a flash. Confirm your proof of address is recent and shows your name and address clearly.

How long it takes

Submissions are reviewed by our team. You will be notified by email once your account has been approved, or if anything needs to be resubmitted.

After approval

Once verified, your account is fully activated and all Royal BB features become available.
